“Saturday Night Live” alum Norm Macdonald will pen a memoir to be released by Random House offshoot Spiegal & Grau in Fall 2016.
In “Based On a True Story,” Macdonald tells the story of his life–more or less–from his origins in a rural small town in the-back-of-beyond Canada to an epically disastrous appearance on “Star Search,” to his incredible account of auditioning for Lorne Michaels and his memorable run as the anchor of Saturday Night Live’s “Weekend Update.”
“If you like a good old-fashioned tell-all bombshell about sex, drugs, and rock’n’roll, and if you like an unflinching account of how the dirty little business of big-time comedy works, then you will love ‘Based on a True Story,’” said Macdonald in a statement. “OK, one time I do flinch. But only once. The rest of time, unflinching. Also, there will be no mention of rock’n’roll. I was lying.”
