AMC is moving forward with Dietland.
After landing the drama following a multiple network bidding war in October, the cable network on Saturday handed out a 10-episode series order to Marti Noxon’s adaptation of Sarai Walker’s 2015 novel. The series, a co-production between Skydance Television and AMC Studios, has not yet been cast and will premiere in 2018.
Put into development in October as part of AMC’s script-to-series development process, the cabler opened a writers room last year as the drama had been a frontrunner to go to series. (Producers went with AMC and, sources say, turned down straight-to-series offers last year following a competitive process that also included HBO, Netflix and TV Land.)
Dietland is the first project to come from Noxon’s seven-figure, three-year deal with Skydance.
